Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, considering that it is in the public interest to do so, on the recommendation of the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration and the Treasury Board, pursuant to subsection 23(2.1)a of the Financial Administration Act, hereby makes the annexed Acquisition of Permanent Resident Status Fee Remission Order.aS.C. 1991, c. 24, s. 7(2)REMISSION

Remission1.Remission is hereby granted of the amount of $485, being a portion of the fee of $975 payable under subsection 303(1) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations, if(a)the fee is paid at or after 12:00 a.m. Eastern Daylight Saving Time on May 3, 2006 and before the coming into force of the Regulations Amending the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (Section 303 Fee) ; or(b)the fee was paid before 12:00 a.m. Eastern Daylight Saving Time on May 3, 2006 and the person in respect of whom the fee was paid acquires permanent resident status at or after 12:00 a.m. Eastern Daylight Saving Time on May 3, 2006 and before the coming into force of the Regulations Amending the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (Section 303 Fee).

Payment2.In the case where the fee of $975 was paid, the amount remitted shall be repaid to the person who paid the fee.
