Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Health, pursuant to section 5a of the Hazardous Products Actb, hereby makes the annexed Corded Window Covering Products Regulations.S.C. 2004, c. 9, s. 2R.S., c. H-3INTERPRETATIONDefinitionsThe following definitions apply in these Regulations.ActLoiAct means the Hazardous Products Act.corded window covering productcouvre-fenêtre à cordoncorded window covering product means an interior window covering that incorporates a bead chain, cord or any type of flexible looped device in its operation.national standardnorme nationalenational standard means the standard CAN/CSA‑Z600 published by the Canadian Standards Association, entitled Safety of corded window covering products, as amended from time to time.person responsibleresponsableperson responsible means, in respect of a corded window covering product,if the product is manufactured in Canada, the manufacturer who advertises or sells it; andif the product is imported, the importer.AUTHORIZATIONAdvertise, sell or importA corded window covering product may be advertised, sold or imported if it meets the requirements of these Regulations.PROHIBITIONNo referenceNo direct or indirect reference to the Act or these Regulations may be made on the label of a corded window covering product or in any advertisement for one.REQUIREMENTSSafety requirementsA corded window covering product must meet the product safety requirements of section 4 of the national standard.Labelling and information requirementsA corded window covering product must meet the labelling and information requirements of section 5 of the national standard.DOCUMENTSRetention periodThe person responsible must prepare and maintain documents that show that a corded window covering product meets the requirements of these Regulations and must keep those documents for a period of at least three years after the date of manufacture in Canada or the date of importation of the product.InspectionThe person responsible must provide an inspector with any documents that the inspector requests in writing, within 15 days after receipt of the request.
