Weights and Measures Regulations

Version of section 31 from 2006-03-22 to 2014-07-31:

  •  (1) Where a device is inspected pursuant to section 15, subsection 17(1) or section 18 of the Act and the inspector determines that the device meets the requirements of the Act and these Regulations, he shall mark the device in the following manner:

    • (a) in the case of a weighing machine or measuring machine, by attaching a sticker to the machine; and

    • (b) in the case of a weight that has a lead plug, by marking the plug by means of a steel die, after defacing any existing inspection mark on the plug.

  • (2) Notwithstanding subsection (1),

    • (a) in the case of a weight that does not have a lead plug, no new inspection mark shall be made following an inspection pursuant to section 15 or subsection 17(1) of the Act; and

    • (b) in the case of a weight that is so small that it is not practicable to mark it in accordance with subsection (1), the inspection mark shall be located on the container in which the device is kept when not in use.
