A Proclamation

Whereas, pursuant to subsection 9(1) of the Canada-Cameroon Income Tax Convention Act, 1984, assented to on June 29, 1984, being Part III of chapter 35 of the Statutes of Canada, 1984, the Convention between Canada and the United Republic of Cameroon for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with respect to Taxes on Income (hereinafter referred to as “the Convention”) was approved and declared to have the force of law in Canada during such period as, by its terms, the Convention is in force;

And Whereas pursuant to Article 26 of the Convention, the Convention shall enter into force upon the exchange of instruments of ratification;

And Whereas the exchange of those instruments of ratification took place on June 16, 1988;

And Whereas, pursuant to section 10 of the said Act, notice of the day the Convention comes into force shall be given by proclamation of the Governor in Council published in the Canada Gazette;

Now Know You that We, by and with the advice of Our Privy Council for Canada, do by this Our Proclamation give notice that the Convention between Canada and the United Republic of Cameroon for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with respect to Taxes on Income came into force on June 16, 1988.

Of All Which Our Loving Subjects and all others whom these Presents may concern are hereby required to take notice and to govern themselves accordingly.

In Testimony Whereof, We have caused these Our Letters to be made Patent and the Great Seal of Canada to be hereunto affixed. Witness: Our Right Trusty and Well-beloved Jeanne Sauvé, a Member of Our Privy Council for Canada, Chancellor and Principal Companion of Our Order of Canada, Chancellor and Commander of Our Order of Military Merit upon whom We have conferred Our Canadian Forces’ Decoration, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada.

At Our Government House, in Our City of Ottawa, this twenty-fifth day of August in the year of Our Lord one thousand nine hundred and eighty-eight and in the thirty-seventh year of Our Reign.
