Order Establishing an Advisory Council to Advise the Minister of Transport on Various Matters Concerning the Transportation of Dangerous Goods
The Minister of Transport, pursuant to section 29 of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, hereby makes the annexed Order establishing an advisory council to advise the Minister of Transport on various matters concerning the transportation of dangerous goods.

SHORT TITLE
1. This Order may be cited as the Transportation of Dangerous Goods General Policy Advisory Council Order.
INTERPRETATION
2. In this Order, “Advisory Council” means the Transportation of Dangerous Goods General Policy Advisory Council established by section 3. (Comité consultatif)
ADVISORY COUNCIL
3. An advisory council is hereby established, to be called the Transportation of Dangerous Goods General Policy Advisory Council, consisting of not more than twenty-five members including the Chairperson.
4. The Advisory Council shall serve for a period of three years beginning on the day on which this Order comes into force.
5. The Chairperson of the Advisory Council shall be appointed by the Minister.
MEETINGS
6. The Advisory Council shall meet at such time and place as the Chairperson requests.
DUTIES OF THE ADVISORY COUNCIL
7. The Advisory Council shall advise the Minister on
(a) matters concerning existing or proposed safety marks, safety requirements and safety standards related to the handling, offering for transport or transportation of dangerous goods;
(b) matters related to the handling or transportation of dangerous goods in urban areas;
(c) the nature and extent of the responsibilities and liabilities of persons involved in the handling, offering for transport or transportation of dangerous goods;
(d) research and development programs related to the handling or transportation of dangerous goods;
(e) education and awareness programs related to the handling or transportation of dangerous goods; and
(f) matters related to emergency response actions during the handling or transportation of dangerous goods.
REMUNERATION AND DISBURSEMENTS
8. The members of the Advisory Council, including the Chairperson, shall serve without remuneration, but the Minister may, in accordance with the applicable Treasury Board directives, reimburse the members for travel and other expenses incurred by them while they are absent from their ordinary place of residence in the course of their duties under this Order.
