Order Granting Authority to the Office des producteurs d’agneaux et de moutons du Québec to Regulate the Marketing of Sheep snd Wool Produced in the Province of Quebec in Interprovincial and Export Trade

His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Agriculture, pursuant to section 2 of the Agricultural Products Marketing Act, is pleased hereby to make the annexed Order granting authority to the Office des producteurs d’agneaux et de moutons du Québec to regulate the marketing of sheep and wool produced in the Province of Quebec in interprovincial and export trade.

Short Title

 This Order may be cited as the Quebec Sheep and Wool Order.

Interpretation

 In this Order,

Board

Board means the Office des producteurs d’agneaux et de moutons du Québec; (Office)

sheep

sheep means sheep produced in the Province of Quebec; (ovin)

wool

wool means unwashed wool shorn from a sheep. (laine)

Interprovincial and Export Trade

 The Board is authorized to regulate the marketing of sheep and wool in interprovincial and export trade and for those purposes may, with respect to persons and property situated within the Province of Quebec, exercise all or any powers like the powers exercisable by it under An Act respecting the marketing of agriculture, food and fish products and amending various legislation, S.Q. 1990, c. 13, in relation to the marketing of sheep and wool locally within that Province.

Levies or Charges

 The Board may, in relation to the powers granted to it under section 3,

  • (a) fix and impose, by order, levies or charges and collect the levies or charges from persons referred to in section 3 who are engaged in the production or marketing of sheep and wool and, for those purposes, may classify those persons into groups and fix, by order, the levies or charges payable by the members of the different groups in different amounts; and

  • (b) use the levies or charges for the purposes of the Board, including the creation of reserves, the payment of expenses and losses resulting from the sale or disposal of sheep and wool and the equalization or adjustment among producers of sheep and wool of moneys realized from the sale thereof during such period as the Board may determine.
