    Canada Oil and Gas Drilling and Production Regulations
    •  (1) The following definitions apply in these Regulations.

      flow system

      flow system means the flow meters, auxiliary equipment attached to the flow meters, fluid sampling devices, production test equipment, the master meter and meter prover used to measure and record the rate and volumes at which fluids are

      zone

      zone means any stratum or any sequence of strata and includes, for the purposes of the definition commingled production , section 7, subsection 61(2), sections 64 to 66 and 73, subsection 82(2) and section 85, a zone that has been designated as such by the Board under section 4. (couche)

    • (2) In these Regulations, delineation well , development well and exploratory well have the same meaning as in subsection 101(1) of the Canada Petroleum Resources Act.

    • (3) In these Regulations, drilling installation , drilling rig , drilling unit , drill site , installation , production installation , production operation , production site and subsea production system have the same meaning as in subsection 2(1) of the Canada Oil and Gas Installations Regulations.

    • (6) For the purpose of section 58.2 of the Act, an onshore or offshore installation is prescribed as an installation.


  2. Canada Oil and Gas Drilling and Production Regulations - SOR/2009-315 (Section 46)
    Canada Oil and Gas Drilling and Production Regulations
    •  (1) An operator that completes a well shall ensure that

      • (e) each packer is set as close as practical to the top of the completion interval and that the pressure testing of the packer to a differential pressure is greater than the maximum differential pressure anticipated under the production or injection conditions;

      • (h) if different pressure and inflow characteristics of two or more pools might adversely affect the recovery from any of those pools, the well is operated as a single pool well or as a segregated multi-pool well;


  3. Canada Oil and Gas Drilling and Production Regulations - C.R.C., c. 1517 (Section 16)
    Regulations Respecting the Drilling and Production of Oil and Gas Belonging to Her Majesty in Right of Canada under all Lands Forming Part of Canada but not Within any Province

     The licensee, permittee or lessee shall, as soon as weather or ground conditions permit, upon the final abandonment and completion of the plugging of any well or structure test hole, clear the area around the location of all refuse material, burn waste oil, drain and fill all excavations, remove concrete bases, machinery and materials other than the marker provided for in subsection 15(5) and level the surface to leave the site as nearly as possible in the condition encountered when operations were commenced.


  4. Canada Oil and Gas Drilling and Production Regulations - C.R.C., c. 1517 (Section 2)
    Regulations Respecting the Drilling and Production of Oil and Gas Belonging to Her Majesty in Right of Canada under all Lands Forming Part of Canada but not Within any Province
    •  (1) In these Regulations,

      blowout

      blowout means the unintentional and uncontrolled escape of oil or gas, as from a drilling well when high formation pressure is encountered; (éruption)

      gas well

      gas well means a well

      • (d) that is classified as a gas well by the Minister for any reason; (puits de gaz)

      zone

      zone means any stratum or strata designated by the Minister as a zone, either generally or in respect of any designated area, or any specified well or wells. (zone)

    • (2) All other words have the same meaning as in the Canada Oil and Gas Land Regulations.


  5. Canada Oil and Gas Drilling and Production Regulations - C.R.C., c. 1517 (Section 53)
    Regulations Respecting the Drilling and Production of Oil and Gas Belonging to Her Majesty in Right of Canada under all Lands Forming Part of Canada but not Within any Province

    • (5) The Oil Conservation Engineer, upon application, may permit the keeping of records or the filing of reports in accordance with this section for a battery or group of wells, but in such cases

      • (a) the figures shall be apportioned in a manner satisfactory to the Oil Conservation Engineer to indicate as nearly as possible the actual production of the individual wells; and

    • (6) The permittee or lessee shall keep such other records and furnish such other reports as the Minister may require.
