    • 1 (1) Each returning officer shall be paid, for services performed by the returning officer during a referendum, a fee based on the population of the electoral district in respect of which the returning officer is appointed, as follows:

    • (2) For attending a recount pursuant to section 29 of the Act and subsections 179(1) to (3), sections 181 and 182 and subsection 184(1) of the Canada Elections Act, for each hour of attendance as certified by the judge who recounts the votes, the returning officer shall be paid

    Tariff of Fees, Costs, Allowances and Expenses to be Paid and Allowed to Returning Officers and other Persons Employed at or with respect to a Referendum under the Referendum Act

    His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the President of the Privy Council and the Chief Electoral Officer, pursuant to subsections 198(1), 202(1) and 204(2) of the Canada Elections Act, as adapted by regulations made by the Chief Electoral Officer on July 14, 1992Footnote * pursuant to section 7 of the Referendum ActFootnote **, and subsection 198(2) of the Canada Elections Actas that provision applies pursuant to subsection 7(1) of the Referendum ActFootnote **, is pleased hereby to make the annexed Tariff of fees, costs, allowances and expenses to be paid and allowed to returning officers and other persons employed at or with respect to a referendum under the Referendum Act, effective July 1, 1992.
