    Regulations Respecting Occupational Health and Safety in Uranium Mines in the Province of Ontario

     In these Regulations,

    Act

    Act means the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Revised Statutes of Ontario, 1980, chapter 321, as that Act read on March 19, 1984, as amended by any enactment set out in Schedule III; (Loi)

    Director

    Director means an inspector who is appointed under the Act as a Director of the Occupational Health and Safety Division of the Ministry of Labour of Ontario; (directeur)

    engineer of the Ministry

    engineer of the Ministry means a person who is employed by the Ministry of Labour of Ontario and who is registered as a professional engineer or licensed as a professional engineer under the Professional Engineers Act of Ontario; (ingénieur du Ministère)

    medical officer of health

    medical officer of health means a medical officer of health as defined in section 1 of the Health Protection and Promotion Act, 1983, Statutes of Ontario, 1983, chapter 10; (médecin-hygiéniste)

    owner

    owner includes a trustee, receiver, mortgagee in possession, tenant, lessee, or occupier of any lands or premises used or to be used as a work place, and a person who acts for or on behalf of an owner as his agent or delegate; (propriétaire)

    regulation

    regulation means

    • (a) a regulation made under the Act and in force on March 19, 1984, as amended by a regulation set out in Schedule II, and

    • (2) Subsection 28(2) of the Act applies in respect of the administration or enforcement of these Regulations as if the reference therein to “section 142 of the Provincial Offences Act” were read as a reference to “section 443 of the Criminal Code”.


  3. Uranium Mines (Ontario) Occupational Health and Safety Regulations - SOR/84-435 (Section 10)
    Regulations Respecting Occupational Health and Safety in Uranium Mines in the Province of Ontario
    •  (1) Subject to subsection (2), for the purposes of these Regulations, an officer is hereby granted or vested with the same powers and duties as are granted to or vested in such officer under the provisions of the Act or regulations.


  4. Uranium Mines (Ontario) Occupational Health and Safety Regulations - SOR/84-435 (Section 9)
    Regulations Respecting Occupational Health and Safety in Uranium Mines in the Province of Ontario

     For the purposes of these Regulations, every owner, worker, supervisor, employer, constructor and health and safety representative is hereby granted or vested with the same rights and powers as are granted to or vested in an owner, worker, supervisor, employer, constructor and health and safety representative, respectively, under the provisions of the Act or regulations.

     These Regulations may be cited as the Uranium Mines (Ontario) Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
