  2. Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations - SOR/2001-286 (SCHEDULE 2 : Special Provisions)

    [...]

    [...]

    • 24 (1) Lead compounds are considered to be insoluble if they exhibit a solubility of 5% or less when they are mixed in a ratio of 1:1 000 with 0.07 molar hydrochloric acid and stirred for one hour at a temperature of 23°C ± 2°C.

    [...]

28 These dangerous goods must not be imported, offered for transport, handled or transported unless they are stabilized and their temperature is maintained below the control temperature, if any, set out in the applicable row of the tables to paragraphs 2.4.2.3.2.3 and 2.5.3.2.4 of the UN Recommendations that corresponds to the appropriate organic peroxide formulation.

    [...]

    • [...]

    • (2) These Regulations, except for Parts 1 and 2, do not apply to the dangerous goods referred to in subsection (1) if

      • (a) at a temperature of 55°C, electrolyte will not flow from a ruptured or cracked battery case and there is no free liquid to flow; and

    [...]

    • 41 (1) A person must not offer for transport, handle or transport UN3356, OXYGEN GENERATOR, CHEMICAL, that contains dangerous goods included in Class 5.1, unless

      • [...]

      • (c) the oxygen generator is transported in a means of containment designed and constructed in such a way that, if the generator is activated,

        • [...]

        • (iii) the outside surface temperature of the outer means of containment will not exceed 100°C.

    [...]

    • [...]

    • (2) Maneb or a maneb preparation is considered to be stabilized against self-heating if it can be demonstrated that, when a 1 m3 sample of the maneb or the preparation is kept in a storage area maintained at a temperature of not less than 75°C ± 2°C for a period of 24 hours,

      • [...]

      • (b) the temperature at the centre of the sample does not exceed 200°C.

    [...]

55 Aqueous solutions of inorganic nitrate substances do not meet the criteria for inclusion in Class 5.1 if the concentration of the inorganic nitrate substances in the aqueous solution at the minimum temperature that may be encountered in transport is not more than 80% of the saturation limit of the inorganic nitrate substance in solution.

    [...]

    • 60 (1) Azodicarbonamide may be imported, offered for transport, handled or transported under this UN number only if it is a technically pure substance, or a formulation derived from it, that has a self-accelerating decomposition temperature greater than 75°C.

    [...]

    • [...]

    • (3) Fuel cell cartridges must be filled in accordance with procedures specified by the manufacturer and the manufacturer must provide, with each fuel cell cartridge, the following information:

      • [...]

      • (e) minimum and maximum temperature range; and

    • [...]

    • (6) Each cartridge design type, including the design types for cartridges integral to a fuel cell, must pass a hydrogen cycling test in which the fuel cell cartridge is cycled, for at least 100 cycles, from not more than 5% rated hydrogen capacity to not less than 95% rated hydrogen capacity and then back to not more than 5% rated hydrogen capacity. The rated charging pressure must be used for charging, and temperatures must be held within the operating temperature range.

    [...]

131 These dangerous goods must not be transported if the temperature of the dangerous goods at the time of loading exceeds the higher of 35°C or 5°C above the ambient temperature.

    [...]

    • 153 (1) A polyester resin kit must be imported, offered for transport, handled or transported under one of these UN numbers if it consists of

      • [...]

      • (b) an activator of type D, E or F that is included in Class 5.2 and does not require temperature control.

    [...]

    • 155 (1) If these dangerous goods are stabilized by temperature control, they must be offered for transport, handled or transported in accordance with section 7.1.5 of the UN Recommendations.

    • (2) If chemical stabilization is employed, the person offering for transport the means of containment must ensure that the level of stabilization prevents a dangerous polymerization of the dangerous goods at a bulk mean temperature of 50°C, in the case of a small means of containment or an IBC, or at a bulk mean temperature of 45°C, in the case of a large means of containment that is not an IBC.

    • (3) If chemical stabilization may become ineffective at lower temperatures within the anticipated duration of transport, temperature control is required.
