His Excellency the Governor General in Council, considering that it is in the public interest to do so, is pleased hereby, on the recommendation of the Minister of National Revenue, pursuant to subsection 23(2)* of the Financial Administration Act, to make the annexed Order respecting the remission of an amount paid in error on account of sales tax on certain system goods used in the construction of a sewage treatment plant at St. Régis, Quebec on behalf of the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne.*S.C. 1991, c. 24, s. 7(2)Short Title

1This Order may be cited as the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne Sewage Treatment Plant Remission Order.

Remission of Sales Tax

2Subject to section 3, remission is hereby granted to the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne in the amount of $47,170.02, which represents the amount paid in error on account of sales tax under the Excise Tax Act on certain system goods purchased during the period beginning on September 1, 1990 and ending on December 31, 1990 for use in the construction of a sewage treatment plant at St. Régis, Quebec.

Condition

3Remission is granted on condition that a claim for remission is made by the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne to the Minister of National Revenue within two years after the day on which this Order is made.
