His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, pursuant to paragraph 23(a) of the Territorial Lands Act, hereby repeals the Withdrawal from Disposal Order (Dawson First Nation, Y.T.), made by Order in Council P.C. 1995-720 of May 2, 1995a, and makes the annexed Order Respecting the Withdrawal from Disposal of Certain Lands in the Yukon Territory (Dawson First Nation, Y.T.).SI/95-60, 1995 Canada Gazette Part II, p. 1477PurposeThe purpose of this Order is to withdraw certain lands from disposal to facilitate the settlement of the Aboriginal land claim of the Dawson First Nation, Y.T.Lands Withdrawn from DisposalSubject to sections 3 and 4, the tracts of territorial lands described in the schedule including all mines and minerals (including hydrocarbons), whether solid, liquid or gaseous, and the right to work them, are withdrawn from disposal for the period beginning on the date this Order comes into force and ending on December 31, 2001.ExceptionsSection 2 does not apply in respect ofany substances or materials that may be disposed of under the Territorial Quarrying Regulations;forest resources that may be disposed of under the Yukon Timber Regulations.Existing Rights and InterestsFor greater certainty, section 2 does not apply in respect ofexisting recorded mineral claims in good standing acquired under the Yukon Placer Mining Act or the Yukon Quartz Mining Act;existing oil and gas rights and interests granted under the Canada Petroleum Resources Act; andexisting rights acquired under section 8 of the Territorial Lands Act or under the Territorial Lands Regulations.Coming into ForceThis Order comes into force on July 25, 1997.(Sections 2 and 4)In the Yukon Territory, all those parcels of land shown as “Rural Lands”, “Site Specific Lands” and “Community Lands” on the following maps on file at the Federal Claims Office, Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, at Whitehorse in the Yukon Territory, copies of which have been deposited with the Supervisor of Lands at Whitehorse and with the Mining Recorders at Whitehorse, Watson Lake, Mayo and Dawson, all in the said Territory:
