level="1"><TitleText>Interpretation</TitleText></Heading><Section lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:lastAmendedDate="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831627" lims:id="831627"><MarginalNote lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831628" lims:id="831628">Definitions</MarginalNote><Label>1</Label><Text>The following definitions apply in these Regulations.</Text><Definition lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831629" lims:id="831629" generate-in-text="no"><Text><DefinedTermEn>glass door or enclosure</DefinedTermEn> means the following products when they are for domestic use:</Text><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831630" lims:id="831630"><Label>(a)</Label><Text>a bathtub or shower door or enclosure that is made of glass or that contains a pane of glass;</Text></Paragraph><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831631" lims:id="831631"><Label>(b)</Label><Text>a storm door that is made of glass or that contains a pane of glass; and</Text></Paragraph><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831632" lims:id="831632"><Label>(c)</Label><Text>an exterior door, other than a storm door, that contains a pane of glass that has an area greater than 0.5 m<Sup>2</Sup> and whose lowest edge is less than 900 mm from the bottom edge of the door. (<DefinedTermFr>portes et enceintes contenant glass</DefinedTermEn> means glass that is formed when two or more sheets of glass are bonded to an intervening layer or layers of plastic material. (<DefinedTermFr>verre feuilleté</DefinedTermFr>)</Text></Definition><Definition lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831634" lims:id="831634" generate-in-text="no"><Text><DefinedTermEn>responsible person</DefinedTermEn> means</Text><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831635" lims:id="831635"><Label>(a)</Label><Text>the manufacturer, in the case of a glass door or enclosure that is manufactured in Canada; and</Text></Paragraph><Paragraph lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831636" lims:id="831636"><Label>(b)</Label><Text>the importer, in the case of a glass door or enclosure that is imported. (<DefinedTermFr>responsable</DefinedTermFr>)</Text></Paragraph></Definition><Definition lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831637" lims:id="831637" generate-in-text="no"><Text><DefinedTermEn>safety glass</DefinedTermEn> means laminated, tempered or wired glass. (<DefinedTermFr>verre de sécurité</DefinedTermFr>)</Text></Definition><Definition lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831638" lims:id="831638" generate-in-text="no"><Text><DefinedTermEn>safety glass standard</DefinedTermEn> means the Canadian General Standards Board standard CAN/CGSB‑12.1‑M90, entitled <XRefExternal reference-type="standard">Tempered or Laminated Safety Glass</XRefExternal>, published in November 1990. (<DefinedTermFr>norme sur le verre de sécurité</DefinedTermFr>)</Text></Definition><Definition lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831639" lims:id="831639" generate-in-text="no"><Text><DefinedTermEn>tempered glass</DefinedTermEn> means glass that has been treated chemically or thermally so that, on fracture, it disintegrates into many small granular pieces. (<DefinedTermFr>verre trempé</DefinedTermFr>)</Text></Definition><Definition lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831640" lims:id="831640" generate-in-text="no"><Text><DefinedTermEn>wired glass</DefinedTermEn> means glass into which a wire mesh has been embedded. (<DefinedTermFr>verre armé</DefinedTermFr>)</Text></Definition><Definition lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831641" lims:id="831641" generate-in-text="no"><Text><DefinedTermEn>wired safety glass standard</DefinedTermEn> means the Canadian General Standards Board standard CAN/CGSB‑12.11‑M90, entitled <XRefExternal reference-type="standard">Wired Safety Glass</XRefExternal>, published in November 1990. (<DefinedTermFr>norme sur le verre de sécurité Requirements</TitleText></Heading><Section lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:lastAmendedDate="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831643" lims:id="831643"><MarginalNote lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831644" lims:id="831644">Requirements</MarginalNote><Label>2</Label><Text>The glass that is contained in a glass door or enclosure must be a safety glass set out in column 1 of the table to this section that, when tested in accordance with the applicable test referred to in column 2, meets the requirement for that test set out in column 3.</Text><TableGroup lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831652" lims:id="831652">Retention period</MarginalNote><Label>3</Label><Subsection lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831653" lims:id="831653"><Label>(1)</Label><Text>The responsible person must prepare and maintain documents that show that a glass door or enclosure meets the requirements of these Regulations and must keep those documents for a period of at least four years after the day on which the glass door or enclosure is manufactured in Canada or the day on which it is imported.</Text></Subsection><Subsection lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831654" lims:id="831654"><MarginalNote lims:inforce-start-date="2016-06-22" lims:fid="831655" lims:id="831655">Inspector’s request</MarginalNote><Label>(2)</Label><Text>The responsible person must provide an inspector with any of the documents that the inspector requests in writing, within 15 days after the day on which
