lims:id="859247">Definitions</MarginalNote><Label>1</Label><Text>The following definitions apply in these Regulations.</Text><Definition lims:inforce-start-date="2018-11-02" lims:fid="859248" lims:id="859248" generate-in-text="no"><Text><DefinedTermEn>children’s jewellery</DefinedTermEn> means jewellery that is manufactured, sized, decorated, packaged, advertised or sold in a manner that appeals primarily to children under 15 years of age but does not include merit badges, medals for achievement or other similar objects normally worn only occasionally. (<DefinedTermFr>bijoux pour enfants</DefinedTermFr>)</Text></Definition><Definition lims:inforce-start-date="2018-11-02" lims:fid="859249" lims:id="859249" generate-in-text="no"><Text><DefinedTermEn>good laboratory practices</DefinedTermEn> means practices that are in accordance with the principles set out in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development document entitled <XRefExternal reference-type="other">OECD Principles of Good Laboratory Practice</XRefExternal>, Number 1 of the <XRefExternal reference-type="other">OECD Series on Principles of Good Laboratory Practice and Compliance Monitoring</XRefExternal>, ENV/MC/CHEM(98)17, the English version of which is dated January 21, 1998 and the French version of which is dated March 6, 1998. (<DefinedTermFr>bonnes pratiques level="1"><TitleText>Requirements</TitleText></Heading><Section lims:inforce-start-date="2018-11-02" lims:lastAmendedDate="2018-11-02" lims:fid="859251" lims:id="859251"><MarginalNote lims:inforce-start-date="2018-11-02" lims:fid="859252" lims:id="859252">Lead content</MarginalNote><Label>2</Label><Text>Children’s jewellery, when tested using good laboratory practices, must not contain more than 90 mg/kg of lead.</Text></Section><Section lims:inforce-start-date="2018-11-02" lims:lastAmendedDate="2018-11-02" lims:fid="859253" lims:id="859253"><MarginalNote lims:inforce-start-date="2018-11-02" lims:fid="859254" lims:id="859254">Cadmium content</MarginalNote><Label>3</Label><Text>Children’s jewellery, when tested using good laboratory practices, must not contain more than 130 mg/kg of cadmium if the jewellery item is small enough to be totally enclosed in the small parts cylinder illustrated in the schedule when a force of not more than 4.45 N is applied.</Text></Section><Heading lims:inforce-start-date="2018-04-23" lims:fid="859255" lims:id="859255" level="1"><TitleText>Repeal</TitleText></Heading><Section lims:inforce-start-date="2018-11-02" lims:lastAmendedDate="2018-11-02" lims:fid="859256" lims:id="859256" type="amending"><Label>4</Label><Text>The <XRefExternal reference-type="regulation" link="SOR-2005-132">Children’s Jewellery Regulations</XRefExternal><FootnoteRef idref="fn_SOR-2018-82_e_hq_21852">1</FootnoteRef> are repealed.</Text><Footnote id="fn_SOR-2018-82_e_hq_21852" placement="section" Force</TitleText></Heading><Section lims:inforce-start-date="2018-04-23" lims:lastAmendedDate="2018-04-23" lims:fid="859258" lims:id="859258" type="transitional"><MarginalNote Regulations come into force on the day that, in the sixth month after the month in which they are published in the <XRefExternal reference-type="other" link="gazette">Canada Gazette</XRefExternal>, lims:inforce-start-date="2018-11-02" lims:fid="859262" lims:id="859262" bilingual="no" width="20pc" spanlanguages="no" spanmarginalnotecol="no" position="center"><AlternateText>A sectional view of the small parts cylinder which is a hollow cylinder with an inner diameter of 31.7 mm.
