PUBLIC SERVICE EMPLOYMENT ACTIndian Affairs and Northern Development Aboriginal Peoples Employment Equity Program Appointments RegulationsThe Public Service Commission, pursuant to paragraph 35(2)(d)a of the Public Service Employment Act, hereby makes the annexed Indian Affairs and Northern Development Aboriginal Peoples Employment Equity Program Appointments Regulations.S.C. 1992, c. 54, s. 23Ottawa, Ontario, July 10, 1997InterpretationThe definitions in this section apply in these Regulations.aboriginal peoples has the same meaning as in section 3 of the Employment Equity Act. (Autochtones)employment equity program means a program to enhance the recruitment of aboriginal peoples to positions in the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development agreed to by the Public Service Commission on May 1, 1995 and March 5, 1997 at the request of the deputy head of that Department and implemented in accordance with section 5.1 of the Public Service Employment Act. (programme d’équité en matière d’emploi)ExclusionsSubject to subsection (2), appointments of aboriginal peoples to positions in the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development under the employment equity program are excluded from the operation of subsections 29(3), 30(1) and (2) and 39(3) and (4) of the Public Service Employment Act and from the operation of any regulations made under paragraph 35(2)(a) of that Act.Subsection (1) does not apply to aboriginal peoples with appointment priority entitlements under subsections 29(3), 30(1) and (2) and 39(3) and (4) of the Public Service Employment Act and regulations made under paragraph 35(2)(a) of that Act.Coming into ForceThese Regulations come into force on July 16, 1997.
