Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, pursuant to subsection 5(1)Footnote a of the Foreign Missions and International Organizations ActFootnote b, hereby makes the annexed Conference of American Armies Privileges and Immunities Order.

Interpretation

 The definitions in this section apply in this Order.

Convention

Convention means the Convention on the Privileges and Immunities of the United Nations set out in Schedule III to the Foreign Missions and International Organizations Act. (Convention)

Meeting

Meeting means the meeting of the Organization to be held in Ottawa, Ontario from September 29, 2003 to October 3, 2003. (réunion)

Organization

Organization means the international organization known as the Conference of American Armies. (Organisation)

Privileges and Immunities

 During the period beginning on September 22, 2003 and ending on October 10, 2003, representatives of states that are members of the Organization shall have in Canada, to the extent required for the exercise of their functions in Canada in relation to the Meeting, the privileges and immunities set out in paragraph 11(d) of Article IV of the Convention.

Coming into Force

 This Order comes into force on the day on which it is registered.
