Metal and Diamond Mining Effluent Regulations

29 For the purpose of subsection 38(4) of the Act, the following authorities are prescribed:

• (a) the local environmental protection office of the federal Department of the Environment in the province where the mine is located; and

• (b) the department or ministry that is responsible for environmental matters in the province where the deposit occurred or would occur, if the Minister of the federal Department of the Environment has an arrangement with that department or ministry to receive the report and that Minister notifies the owner or operator of the mine of the arrangement.
