Regulations Respecting the Sale, Advertising and Importation of Kettles
Short Title
1 These Regulations may be cited as the Hazardous Products (Kettles) Regulations.
Interpretation
2 In these Regulations, "product" means a kettle included in item 28 of Part II of Schedule I to the Hazardous Products Act. (produit)

General
3 A product may be advertised, sold or imported into Canada if it does not release more than 0.01 part per million w/w lead when tested in the manner described in section 4.

Manner of Testing
4 For the purpose of determining the quantity of lead that is released by any product
(a) the product shall be prepared for use in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions;
(b) one litre of distilled and de-ionized water shall be placed in the product;
(c) the water in the product shall be heated and boiled for a total of 15 minutes; and
(d) when the water has cooled to room temperature, the quantity of lead present in the water shall be measured in terms of parts per million w/w and such measurement shall be calculated on the basis of one litre of water.
