Complaint Information (Authorized Foreign Banks) Regulations

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Finance, pursuant to section 978Footnote a of the Bank ActFootnote b, hereby makes the annexed Complaint Information (Authorized Foreign Banks) Regulations.

Provision of Information

Marginal note:Information to be provided

  •  (1) For the purposes of subsection 574(1) of the Bank Act, the information to be provided is that complaints must be communicated in writing to:

  • Marginal note:Manner of providing information

    (2) The information referred to in subsection (1) shall be provided by the authorized foreign bank by means of

    • (a) a separate written statement; or

    • (b) a statement in a brochure, statement of account or written statement that contains other information that is required, under the Bank Act, to be disclosed in respect of an arrangement referred to in subsection 570(3) of that Act, a payment, credit or charge card, the cost of borrowing, or any other obligation of the bank under a consumer provision.

Footnote * These Regulations come into force on the day on which section 574 of the Bank Act, as enacted by subsection 157(1) of the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada Act, chapter 9 of the Statutes of Canada, 2001, comes into force.
