Regulations Respecting the Stabilization of the Price of Hogs Marketed in the Year Ending March 31, 1980

His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Agriculture, pursuant to sections 2, 8.2, 10 and 11 of the Agricultural Stabilization Act, is pleased hereby to make the annexed Regulations respecting the stabilization of the price of hogs marketed in the year ending March 31, 1980.
Short Title
1 These Regulations may be cited as the Hog Stabilization 1979-80 Regulations.
Interpretation
2 In these Regulations,
- Act
Act means the Agricultural Stabilization Act; (Loi)
- Board
Board means the Agricultural Stabilization Board; (Office)
- hogs
hogs means hogs sold for slaughter during the period April 1, 1979 to March 31, 1980 at an index of not less than 80 or at prices equivalent to that index, as determined by the Board, in both cases excluding sows, ridglings, stags and boars; (porc)
- index
index means the grade indexes of hogs as set out in the brochure “The Canadian Hog Carcass Grading/Settlement System” effective December 31, 1979. (indice)
- producer
producer means a person residing in Canada who raises hogs for marketing for slaughter, on his own behalf or under contract; (producteur)
Prescribed Price
3 The prescribed price for hogs for the year ending March 31, 1980 shall be the aggregate of
(a) 90 per cent of the base price thereof; and
(b) the index applicable thereto calculated in the manner set out in the Production Cost Index Regulations.
Payment to Producers
4 Subject to section 5, the Board may, pursuant to paragraph 10(1)(b) of the Act, make payments to producers of $2.46 per cwt, hot dressed weight, on a maximum of 5,000 hogs per producer.
5 Where producers are carrying on business in a production unit, as determined by the Board, the Board may make payments to each producer in the production unit, but such payments shall not, in the aggregate, exceed the maximum payable by the Board under section 4 to three producers.
6 Payments shall be made pursuant to section 4 based on
(a) hog carcass grading certificates signed by inspectors under the Agricultural Products Standards Act; or
(b) other equivalent evidence satisfactory to the Board.
