Regulations Respecting the Stabilization of the Price of Canola for the 1987 Period

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Agriculture and the Treasury Board, pursuant to sections 2Footnote *, 10Footnote **, 12Footnote *** and 14 of the Agricultural Stabilization Act, is pleased hereby to revoke the Canola Stabilization Regulations, 1987, made by Order in Council P.C. 1988-1459 of July 21, 1988Footnote ****, and to make the annexed Regulations respecting the stabilization of the price of canola for the 1987 period, in substitution therefor.

Short Title

 These Regulations may be cited as the Canola 1987 Period Stabilization Regulations.

Interpretation

 In these Regulations,

Act

Act means the Agricultural Stabilization Act; (Loi)

period

period means the period beginning on July 1 of any year and ending on June 30 of the following year. (période)

Application

 These Regulations apply in respect of canola produced in Eastern Canada by a producer during the calendar year 1987 and sold by the producer during the 1987 period.

Designated Commodity

 Canola is hereby designated as an agricultural commodity for the purposes of the Act.

Prescribed Percentage

 For the purpose of determining the prescribed price of canola for the 1987 period, the percentage of the base price of canola is hereby prescribed to be 100 per cent.

Payment

 Payments pursuant to paragraph 12(1)(c) of the Act shall be made by the Board directly to producers or to a producer, government or organization of a province, for the benefit of producers in that province, as the Board may determine.
