Ontario Fishery Regulations, 1989

Version of section 36.1 from 2006-03-22 to 2007-12-31:

  •  (1) No person shall take fish for scientific or educational purposes unless the person is the holder of a Licence to Collect Fish for Scientific Purposes.

  • (2) The Provincial Minister may issue a Licence to Collect Fish for Scientific Purposes and may, in that licence, impose terms and conditions respecting

    • (a) the waters from which fish may be taken;

    • (b) the species, size and quantity of fish that may be taken;

    • (c) the fishing gear that may be used and the rule or gauge used to measure the gear;

    • (d) the persons who may engage in fishing under the licence; and

    • (e) the periods and times of day during which fishing operations may not be conducted.

  • (3) No holder of a Licence to Collect Fish for Scientific Purposes shall violate any of the conditions of the licence.

  • (4) The requirement to have a Licence to Collect Fish for Scientific Purposes does not apply to employees of the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources engaged in carrying out their duties related to the proper management, conservation and protection of fish.
