APPROPRIATION ACT NO. 4, 1973

REGULATIONS RESPECTING THE REIMBURSEMENT OF PROVINCES FOR MONEYS PAID TO OWNERS OF ANIMALS DYING AS A RESULT OF RABIES

Short Title

 These Regulations may be cited as the Rabies Indemnification Regulations.

Interpretation

 In these Regulations, "Minister" means the Minister of Agriculture.

General

 Subject to sections 4 and 5, the Minister may reimburse any province 2/5 of the amount paid by the province to owners of animals that have died as a result of rabies.

 The maximum amount per animal that the Minister may pay under these Regulations is

  • (a) for cattle, $400;

  • (b) for horses, 200;

  • (c) for sheep, 80;

  • (d) for swine, 80; and

  • (e) for goats, 80.

 No payment shall be made by the Minister under section 3 in respect of any animal unless the Minister has first received a certificate signed by a veterinary inspector under the Animal Disease and Protection Act certifying that the animal died as a result of rabies.
