Whereas the Public Service Commission has decided that it is neither practicable nor in the best interests of the public service to apply certain provisions of the Public Service Employment ActFootnote a to participants in the Federal Student Work Experience Program, the Research Affiliate Program, the Post-Secondary Co-op/Internship Program or any other student employment program established by the Treasury Board after consultation with the Public Service Commission, for the purposes of hiring and during the course of their employment under the program;

And whereas, pursuant to subsection 20(2) of that Act, the Public Service Commission has consulted with the employer;
Therefore, the Public Service Commission, pursuant to section 20 of the Public Service Employment ActFootnote a, hereby
(a) re-applies the provisions of the Public Service Employment ActFootnote a to the persons and positions that were excluded by Order in Council P.C. 1997-488 of April 8, 1997Footnote b; and

(b) excludes the application of that Act, other than section 2, subsections 15(1) and (2), sections 16 to 21, 24, 25, 29, 34, 54, 55, 66 to 72, 111 to 122, 134 and 135 of that Act to participants in the Federal Student Work Experience Program, the Research Affiliate Program, the Post-Secondary Co-op/Internship Program or any other student employment program established by the Treasury Board after consultation with the Public Service Commission, for the purposes of hiring and during the course of their employment under the program.

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Canadian Heritage, pursuant to section 20 of the Public Service Employment ActFootnote a, hereby approves
(a) the re-application by the Public Service Commission of the provisions of the Public Service Employment ActFootnote a to the persons and positions that were excluded by Order in Council P.C. 1997-488 of April 8, 1997Footnote b; and
(b) the exclusion by the Public Service Commission from the application of that Act, other than section 2, subsections 15(1) and (2), sections 16 to 21, 24, 25, 29, 34, 54, 55, 66 to 72, 111 to 122, 134 and 135 of that Act to participants in the Federal Student Work Experience Program, the Research Affiliate Program, the Post-Secondary Co-op/Internship Program or any other student employment program established by the Treasury Board after consultation with the Public Service Commission, for the purposes of hiring and during the course of their employment under the program.
