Order Respecting the Remission of Unemployment Insurance Premiums Paid by Certain Employees of the Cape Breton Development Corporation

His Excellency the Governor General in Council, considering that it is in the public interest to do so, is pleased hereby, on the recommendation of the Minister of National Revenue and the Treasury Board, pursuant to subsection 23(2.1)Footnote * of the Financial Administration Act, to make the annexed Order respecting the remission of unemployment insurance premiums paid by certain employees of the Cape Breton Development Corporation.

Short Title

 This Order may be cited as the Cape Breton Development Corporation Employees Pre-Retirement Remission Order.

Interpretation

 In this Order,

Act

Act means the Unemployment Insurance Act; (Loi)

individual

individual, in respect of a person, includes the person’s heir or legal representative; (particulier)

severance benefit

severance benefit means an amount payable under subsection 19(2) of the Act as that section read before October 23, 1990. (prestation de retraite)

Remission

 Where an individual paid an amount under the Act after 1971 and before June 8, 1989 as an employee’s premium in respect of the individual’s insurable employment under the Cape Breton Development Corporation’s Pre-Retirement Leave Plan for a period in respect of which the individual received a disability pension under the Canada Pension Plan, remission of the amount is hereby granted to that individual less the amount of any severance benefit paid to that individual.
