Order Providing for the Fixing, Imposing and Collecting of Levies or Charges From Producers in the Province of Quebec Who Are Engaged in the Production or Marketing of Beef Cattle in Interprovincial and Export Trade

The Fédération des producteurs de bovins du Québec, pursuant to sections 3 and 4 of the Quebec Beef Cattle Order, made by Order in Council P.C. 1992-1067 of May 21, 1992Footnote *, hereby makes the annexed Order providing for the fixing, imposing and collecting of levies or charges from producers in the Province of Quebec who are engaged in the production or marketing of beef cattle in interprovincial and export trade.

Short Title

 This Order may be cited as the Quebec Beef Cattle Producers’ Levies or Charges (Interprovincial and Export Trade) Order.

Interpretation

 In this Order,

beef cattle

beef cattle means any beef cattle produced or marketed in the Province of Quebec; (bovin)

buyer

buyer means a person who acquires or receives any beef cattle from a producer, directly or through any type of auction, for the buyer’s own purposes; (acheteur)

Commodity Board

Commodity Board means the Fédération des producteurs de bovins du Québec; (Fédération)

producer

producer means a person who breeds beef cattle in Quebec for the person’s use or for others, produces them or has them produced, or markets them in any way. (producteur)

Levies or Charges

 Each producer shall pay to the Commodity Board, for all beef cattle produced or marketed by that producer in interprovincial and export trade, the levies or charges that are set out in the schedule.

Method of Payment

 Subject to section 5, the producer shall pay every levy or charge payable pursuant to section 3 to the Commodity Board at its headquarters in Longueuil, Quebec, within the time limits set out in the by-laws referred to in that section.

 A buyer in Quebec shall deduct from the moneys payable to a producer of beef cattle all levies or charges payable by the producer to the Commodity Board under section 3 and shall remit the levies or charges directly to the Commodity Board at its headquarters in Longueuil, Quebec.
