Life Saving Equipment Regulations
49 A Class II ship shall carry
(a) three survival craft VHF radiotelephone apparatus stowed so that they are readily accessible for immediate use, unless the ship is less than 20 m in length and engaged on a voyage that does not go beyond the Gulf of St. Lawrence;
(b) a marine anti-exposure work suit for each member of the rescue boat crew;
(c) for each life raft,
(i) if the ship is engaged on a near coastal voyage, Class 1, limited to 120 nautical miles from shore, a SOLAS A pack as set out in the LSA Code, and
(ii) if the ship is engaged on a short international voyage that is not a sheltered waters voyage, a SOLAS B pack as set out in the LSA Code;

(f) a line-throwing appliance;
(g) 12 rocket parachute flares;
(h) one portable battery-powered loud hailer located at each muster station where
(i) more than 100 persons are to be mustered, or
(ii) a marine evacuation system is used; and
(i) means of embarkation into survival craft.
