Marginal note:Definitions

  •  (1) In this Act,

    appropriate officer

    officier compétent

    appropriate officer means, in respect of a member, such officer as is designated pursuant to subsection (3); (officier compétent)

    child

    enfant

    child means a person who is or, in the absence of any evidence to the contrary, appears to be under the age of eighteen years; (enfant)

    Code of Conduct

    code de déontologie

    Code of Conduct means the regulations made pursuant to section 38; (code de déontologie)

    Commission

    Commission

    Commission means the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Public Complaints Commission established by section 45.29; (Commission)

    Commission Chairman

    Commission Chairman means the Chairman of the Commission; (Version anglaise seulement)

    Commissioner

    commissaire

    Commissioner means the Commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police; (commissaire)

    Committee

    Comité

    Committee means the Royal Canadian Mounted Police External Review Committee established by section 25; (Comité)

    Committee Chairman

    Committee Chairman means the Chairman of the Committee; (Version anglaise seulement)

    Force

    Gendarmerie

    Force means the Royal Canadian Mounted Police; (Gendarmerie)

    guardian

    tuteur

    guardian means, in respect of a child, any person, other than a parent of the child, who is under a legal duty to provide for the child or who has, in law or in fact, the custody or control of the child; (tuteur)

    member

    membre

    member means any person

    • (a) who has been appointed as an officer or other member of the Force under section 5 or paragraph 6(3)(a) or 7(1)(a), and

    • (b) who has not been dismissed or discharged from the Force as provided in this Act, the regulations or the Commissioner’s standing orders; (membre)

    Minister

    ministre

    Minister means the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness; (ministre)

    officer

    officier

    officer means a member appointed by the Governor in Council pursuant to section 5 or paragraph 6(3)(a); (officier)

    representative

    représentant

    representative means a member who is representing or assisting another member pursuant to section 47.1. (représentant)

  • Marginal note:Commissioner’s standing orders

    (2) The rules made by the Commissioner under any provision of this Act empowering the Commissioner to make rules shall be known as Commissioner’s standing orders.

    (3) The Commissioner may, by rule, designate an officer to be the appropriate officer in respect of a member either for the purposes of this Act generally or for the purposes of any provision thereof in particular.
