NORTHWEST TERRITORIES ACT

Order Prescribing Oaths of Allegiance and Office and the Seat of the Government

Short Title

 This Order may be cited as the Oaths of Allegiance and Office and Seat of Government Order (N.W.T.).

Oath of Allegiance

 The oath of allegiance prescribed by the Oaths of Allegiance Act is the oath of allegiance to be taken and subscribed by the Commissioner of the Northwest Territories and the members of the Northwest Territories Council.

Oath of Office

 The oath of office to be taken and subscribed by the Commissioner of the Northwest Territories is in the form set out in Schedule I.

 The oath of office to be taken and subscribed by members of the Northwest Territories Council is in the form set out in Schedule II.

Swearing

 The oath of allegiance and oath of office of the Commissioner of the Northwest Territories shall be sworn and subscribed before the Clerk or Assistant Clerk of the Privy Council.

Seat of Government

 The seat of government of the Northwest Territories shall be in the Town of Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories.

SCHEDULE I(Section 3)Oath of Office for Commissioner of the Northwest Territories

I, blank line do solemnly and sincerely promise and swear that I will duly and faithfully and to the best of my skill and knowledge execute the powers and trust reposed in me as the Commissioner of the Northwest Territories. So help me God.

SCHEDULE II(Section 4)Oath of Office for Member of the Northwest Territories Council

I, blank line do solemnly and sincerely promise and swear that I will duly and faithfully and to the best of my skill and knowledge execute the powers and trust reposed in me as a member of the Northwest Territories Council. So help me God.
