Coastal Fisheries Protection Regulations
Version of section 33 from 2006-03-22 to 2014-06-05:
33 (1) No fishing vessel of a participating state shall fish for a species of fish, for which the NAFO Measures prescribe a minimum mesh size, with a net in which the mesh size in any part of the net, other than the underside of a trawl codend, is obstructed so as to diminish the size of the meshes.
(2) Subsection (1) does not apply where the vessel has attached a device described in Annex XV of the NAFO Measures to the upper side of the codend, provided that the device is attached in such a manner that it does not obstruct the meshes of the codend, including any extension used to lengthen that codend.
