His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Agriculture and the Treasury Board, pursuant to section 2, paragraph 8.2(1)(b), subsection 9(1), paragraph 10(1)(b) and section 11 of the Agricultural Stabilization Act, is pleased hereby to make the annexed Regulations respecting the stabilization of the price of apricots grown and marketed in 1977.

Short Title

 These Regulations may be cited as the Apricot Stabilization Regulations, 1977.

Interpretation

 In these Regulations,

apricots

apricots means apricots grown in Canada in 1977 and marketed by a producer on or before December 31, 1977; (abricots)

producer

producer means a person residing in Canada and producing apricots. (producteur)

Designated Commodity

 Apricots are hereby designated as an agricultural commodity for the purposes of the Agricultural Stabilization Act.

Prescribed Price

 The prescribed price for apricots shall be the aggregate of

  • (a) 90 per cent of the base price thereof; and

  • (b) the index applicable thereto calculated in the manner set out in the Production Cost Index Regulations.

Payment to Producers

 The amount to be paid by the Board under paragraph 10(1)(b) of the Act in respect of apricots is 1.5 cents per pound of apricots grown in the Province of British Columbia and is payable to producers in that Province.
