Rules Respecting Qualifications for Appointment of a Member, other than an Officer, in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police

The Commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, pursuant to subsection 10(1)Footnote * of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Act, hereby makes the annexed Rules respecting qualifications for appointment of a member, other than an officer, in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, effective June 30, 1988.

Short Title

 These Rules may be cited as Commissioner’s Standing Orders (Qualifications).

Qualifications

 In addition to the qualifications noted in section 9.1 of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Act, no person shall be appointed to be a member, other than an officer, unless that person is

  • (a) proficient in either official language, and

  • (b) 19 years of age or older.
