Whereas, pursuant to subsection 26(1) of the St. Lawrence Seaway Authority Act, The Seaway International Bridge Corporation, Ltd. was incorporated as a subsidiary of The St. Lawrence Seaway Authority for the purpose of undertaking or carrying out any acts or things that the Authority was authorized to undertake or carry out under that Act;
Whereas subsection 26(3) of that Act extends the application of certain provisions of the Act to a corporation incorporated pursuant to section 26 of the Act as though the corporation were The St. Lawrence Seaway Authority;
Whereas, on the repeal of the St. Lawrence Seaway Authority Act, these provisions cease to apply in respect of The Seaway International Bridge Corporation, Ltd.;
Whereas, pursuant to section 142 of the Canada Marine ActFootnote a, the Governor in Council may, by regulation, provide that any provision of the St. Lawrence Seaway Authority Act applies to The Seaway International Bridge Corporation, Ltd.;

And whereas the Governor in Council considers it appropriate that certain provisions of the Act apply in respect of The Seaway International Bridge Corporation, Ltd.;
Therefore, His Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Transport, pursuant to section 142 of the Canada Marine ActFootnote a, hereby makes the annexed The Seaway International Bridge Corporation, Ltd. Regulations.
General
1 Subsection 3(2) and sections 4, 9, 16, 17, 22, 24 and 25 of the St. Lawrence Seaway Authority Act, as that Act read on November 30, 1998, apply, in a modified form, to The Seaway International Bridge Corporation, Ltd. The modified provisions are set out in the schedule.
Coming into Force
2 These Regulations come into force on December 1, 1998.
