MINIMUM CLEARANCE DISTANCES MEASURED HORIZONTALLY BETWEEN THE TRACK SIDE OF A LOADING OR UNLOADING RACK OR TERMINAL AND THE GAUGE SIDE OF THE NEAREST RAIL OF ANY TRACK

STRAIGHT TRACK
  • (a) That portion of a rack or structure more than 4 feet above the top of the rail blank line

  • (b) Except as provided in (c), that portion of a rack or structure 4 feet or less above the top of the rail blank line

  • (c) Loading, unloading racks or terminals of an overall height of 4 feet or less above the top of the rail blank line

CURVED TRACK
All distances prescribed for straight track shall be increased by 1 inch per degree of track curvature.
  • Note: 
    Less than standard clearances are known as restricted clearances. Restricted clearances shall be approved in accordance with the requirements of the Railway Clearance Regulations.
