Ballast Control Operator
183 An applicant for a Ballast Control Operator certificate shall meet the requirements set out in column 1 of the table to this section and the corresponding specifications set out in column 2.

The applicant shall provide the following certificates with respect to MOU courses described in TP 10937 or, as an alternative, in the case of each certificate referred to in paragraphs (a) to (c), a certificate referred to in the Canadian East Coast Offshore Petroleum Industry, Standard Practice for the Training and Qualification of Personnel, published by the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers, if the Minister has determined it to be equivalent to the relevant certificate:
184 (1) An applicant who has started to acquire qualifying service and who has passed at least one examination required to obtain a certificate of competency under the Marine Certification Regulations before that day may, after complying with the requirements for the delivery of that certificate under those Regulations as they read immediately before that day, obtain the equivalent ranking certificate identified in Schedule 1 to this Part and issued under these Regulations or, if an equivalent ranking certificate does not exist, the certificate of the rank immediately below.
(2) Subsection (1) expires 5 years after the day on which this section comes into force.
