SUBDIVISION BSmall Electric Motors (continued)

Marginal note:Energy-using product

  •  (1) A small electric motor is prescribed as an energy-using product.

  • Marginal note:Limits

    (2) However, for the purposes of sections 4, 5 and 755, a small electric motor is not considered to be an energy-using product if it was manufactured before March 9, 2015 or it is incorporated into any other product that is subject to these Regulations.

Marginal note:Energy efficiency standards

  •  (1) The energy efficiency standards set out in the applicable table in paragraph (a) of 10 C.F.R. §431.446 apply to a small motor.

  • Marginal note:Testing standard

    (2) A small electric motor complies with the energy efficiency standard if it meets that standard when

    • (a) the product’s average full load efficiency is determined using horsepower and kilowatt ratings that are determined in accordance with paragraph (b) of 10 C.F.R. §431.446;

    • (b) the product is tested at 100% of its nominal full load; and

    • (c) the product is tested in accordance with testing procedures established by one of the following standards that are applicable to a small electric motor as defined in section 753:

      • (i) if the motor is polyphase and has a nominal output power ≥ 0.18 kW (0.25 horsepower) but ≤ 0.75 kW (1 horsepower), CSA C747-09 or IEEE 112-2004, Test Method A,

      • (ii) if the motor is polyphase and has a nominal output power > 0.75 kW (1 horsepower) but ≤ 2.2 kW (3 horsepower), CSA C390-10 or IEEE 112-2004, Test Method B, or

      • (iii) if the motor is capacitor-start capacitor-run or capacitor-start induction-run, CSA C747-09 or IEEE 114-2010.

Marginal note:Information

  •  (1) For the purpose of subsection 5(1) of the Act, the following information must be provided to the Minister in respect of a small electric motor:

    • (a) its average full load efficiency;

    • (b) its type, namely, capacitor-start capacitor-run, capacitor-start induction-run or polyphase; and

    • (c) if the motor is one for which a unique motor identifier has not been provided under paragraph 5(1)(c), its nominal output power expressed in kilowatts (horsepower) and the number of poles.

  • Marginal note:Standard

    (2) The information must be collected in accordance with one of the following standards:

    • (a) if the motor is polyphase and has a nominal output power ≥ 0.18 kW (0.25 horsepower) but ≤ 0.75 kW (1 horsepower), CSA C747-09 or IEEE 112-2004, Test Method A;

    • (b) if the motor is polyphase and has a nominal output power > 0.75 kW (1 horsepower) but ≤ 2.2 kW (3 horsepower), CSA C390-10 or IEEE 112-2004, Test Method B; or

    • (c) if the motor is capacitor-start capacitor-run or capacitor-start induction-run, CSA C747-09 or IEEE 114-2010.

DIVISION 13Commercial Pre-Rinse Spray Valves

Marginal note:Definitions

 The following definitions apply in this Division.

commercial pre-rinse spray valve

commercial pre-rinse spray valve means a handheld device for spraying water on food service items, that has a release-to-close valve and is designed and marketed to be used in conjunction with commercial dishwashing or commercial ware washing equipment. (pulvérisateur de prérinçage commercial)

10 C.F.R. §431.264

10 C.F.R. §431.264 means the test method set out in section 431.264 of Subpart O, Part 431 of Title 10 to the United States Code of Federal Regulations, as amended from time to time. (10 C.F.R. §431.264)

10 C.F.R. §431.266

10 C.F.R. §431.266 means the table to paragraph 431.266(b) of Subpart O, Part 431 of Title 10 to the United States Code of Federal Regulations, as amended from time to time. (10 C.F.R. §431.266)

Marginal note:Energy-using product

  •  (1) A commercial pre-rinse spray valve is prescribed as an energy-using product.

  • Marginal note:Limit

    (2) However, for the purposes of sections 4, 5 and 802, a commercial pre-rinse spray valve is not considered to be an energy-using product unless it is manufactured on or after June 27, 2016.

Marginal note:Energy efficiency standards

  •  (1) The energy efficiency standards set out in column 2 of the table to this section apply to commercial pre-rinse spray valves described in column 1 that are manufactured during the periods set out in column 3.

  • Marginal note:Testing standard

    (2) A commercial pre-rinse spray valve complies with the energy efficiency standard if it meets that standard when tested in accordance with testing procedures established by 10 C.F.R. §431.264 that are applicable to a commercial pre-rinse spray valve as defined in section 800.

Marginal note:Information

 For the purpose of subsection 5(1) of the Act, the following information must be collected in accordance with 10 C.F.R. §431.264 and provided to the Minister in respect of a commercial pre-rinse spray valve:

  • (a) the maximum water flow rate, in litres per minute (gallons per minute); and

  • (b) if it is manufactured on or after January 28, 2019, the spray force in newtons (ounce-force).

 The following definitions apply in this subdivision.

10 C.F.R. Appendix A

10 C.F.R. Appendix A means Appendix A to Subpart Y, Part 431 of Title 10 to the United States Code of Federal Regulations, entitled Uniform Test Method for the Measurement of Energy Consumption of Pumps, as amended from time to time. (appendice A 10 C.F.R.)

10 C.F.R. §431.465(b)(4)

10 C.F.R. §431.465(b)(4) means the table to paragraph 431.465(b)(4) of Subpart Y, Part 431 of Title 10 to the United States Code of Federal Regulations, as amended from time to time. (10 C.F.R. §431.465(b)(4))

best efficiency point

best efficiency point means the pump hydraulic power operating point that results in a maximum efficiency. (point de rendement maximal)

clean water

clean water means water that has a maximum non-absorbent solid content of 0.25 kg/m3(0.016 lb/ft3), a maximum dissolved solid content of 50 kg/m3 (3.1 lb/ft3) and a total gas content that does not exceed the saturation volume and that may include additives necessary to prevent the water from freezing down to -10°C (14°F). (eau claire)

clean water pump

clean water pump means a pump – with or without mechanical equipment, driver and controls, that is designed for pumping clean water – other than a fire pump, a self-priming pump, a prime-assist pump, a magnet-driven pump, a pump designed to be used in a nuclear facility, a pump designed to Canadian or United States military specifications or a pump designed and marketed for use as a pool pump, that

  • (a) is one of the following types:

    • (i) an end suction close-coupled pump with a maximum specific speed of 5000 RPM,

    • (ii) an end suction frame mounted pump with its own bearings and with a specific speed not more than 5000 RPM,

    • (iii) an in-line pump,

    • (iv) a radially split, multi-stage, vertical, in-line diffuser casing pump, or

    • (v) a submersible turbine pump with a bowl diameter not greater than 152 mm (6 in),

  • (b) has a shaft input power not less than 0.75 kW (1 horsepower) and not greater than 150 kW (200 horsepower) at best efficiency point and full impeller diameter;

  • (c) has a flow rate of 5.68 m3/h (25 US gallons/min) or greater at best efficiency point and full impeller diameter;

  • (d) has a maximum head of 139.9 m (459 ft) at best efficiency point and full impeller diameter;

  • (e) has a design temperature range that lies within -10 and 120°C (14 and 248°F); and

  • (f) is designed to operate with either a 2-pole or 4-pole induction motor or a non-induction motor with a nominal speed of rotation of either 1800 RPM or 3600 RPM, as determined in accordance with 10 C.F.R. Appendix A, and in which the driver and impeller rotate at the same speed. (pompe à eau claire)

  •  (1) A clean water pump is prescribed as an energy-using product.

  • Marginal note:Limit

    (2) However, for the purposes of sections 4, 5 and 806, a clean water pump is not considered to be an energy-using product unless it is manufactured on or after January 27, 2020.

Marginal note:Energy efficiency standard

  •  (1) The energy efficiency standard that applies to a clean water pump is the maximum pump energy index set out for the applicable equipment class in 10 C.F.R. §431.465(b)(4).

  • Marginal note:Testing standard

    (2) A clean water pump complies with the energy efficiency standard if it meets that standard when tested in accordance with testing procedures established by 10 C.F.R. Appendix A that apply to a clean water pump as defined in section 804.

Marginal note:Information

 For the purpose of subsection 5(1) of the Act, the following information must be provided to the Minister in respect of a clean water pump:

  • (a) its nominal power in kilowatts;

  • (b) the impeller diameter in millimetres;

  • (c) its type, namely, end suction close-coupled pump, end suction frame mounted with own bearings pump, in-line pump, radially split multi-stage, vertical, in-line diffuser casing pump or submersible turbine pump;

  • (d) its nominal speed of rotation collected in accordance with 10 C.F.R. Appendix A;

  • (e) its mode of operation, namely, constant load or variable load; and

  • (f) its pump energy index value collected in accordance with 10 C.F.R. Appendix A.
