SUBDIVISION HGas Ranges
Marginal note:Definition of gas range
57 In this Subdivision, gas range means a household propane or natural gas range that has an electrical power source, is used for food preparation and provides at least one of the following functions:
(a) surface cooking;
(b) oven cooking; and
(c) broiling.

58 (1) A gas range is prescribed as an energy-using product.
Marginal note:Limit
(2) However, for the purposes of sections 4, 5 and 59, a gas range is not considered to be an energy-using product unless it is manufactured on or after February 3, 1995.

59 The energy efficiency standard that applies to a gas range is that it must not have a continuously burning pilot light.

60 For the purpose of subsection 5(1) of the Act, the following information must be collected in accordance with CSA C358-03 and provided to the Minister in respect of a gas range:
(a) the volume of usable oven space, expressed in litres;
(b) information that indicates whether the product is built-in or free-standing; and
(c) the broiler configuration, namely, open or closed.

61 The following definitions apply in this Subdivision.
- CSA C749-07
CSA C749-07 means the CSA standard CAN/CSA-C749-07 entitled Performance of Dehumidifiers. (CSA C749-07)
- CSA C749-94
CSA C749-94 means the CSA standard CAN/CSA-C749-94 entitled Performance of Dehumidifiers. (CSA C749-94)
- dehumidifier
dehumidifier means a household appliance that is primarily designed to remove moisture from the air and is
(a) self-contained and encased;
(b) electrically operated; and
(c) mechanically refrigerated. (déshumidificateur)
- portable dehumidifier
portable dehumidifier means a dehumidifier that is not a whole-home dehumidifier. (déshumidificateur portatif)
- 10 C.F.R. Appendix X1
10 C.F.R. Appendix X1 means Appendix X1 to Subpart B of Part 430 of Title 10 to the United States Code of Federal Regulations, entitled Uniform Test Method for Measuring the Energy Consumption of Dehumidifiers, as amended from time to time. (appendice X1 10 C.F.R.)
- 10 C.F.R. §430.32(v)(2)
10 C.F.R. §430.32(v)(2) means the table to paragraph 430.32(v)(2) of Subpart C, Part 430 of Title 10 to the United States Code of Federal Regulations, as amended from time to time. (10 C.F.R. §430.32(v)(2))
- whole-home dehumidifier
whole-home dehumidifier means a dehumidifier that is designed to be installed in an air duct. (déshumidificateur à conduit)

62 (1) A dehumidifier is prescribed as an energy-using product.

(2) However, for the purposes of sections 4, 5 and 63, a dehumidifier is not considered to be an energy-using product unless
(a) it is manufactured on or after December 31, 1998; and
(b) in the case of a whole-home dehumidifier, it is manufactured on or after June 13, 2019.

63 (1) The energy efficiency standards set out in column 3 of the table to this section apply to dehumidifiers described in column 1 that are manufactured during the periods set out in column 4.

(2) A dehumidifier complies with the energy efficiency standard if it meets that standard when tested in accordance with testing procedures established by the standard set out in column 2 that are applicable to a dehumidifier as defined in section 61.

SUBDIVISION JMicrowave Ovens

65 The following definitions apply in this Subdivision.
- CSA C388-15
CSA C388-15 means the CSA standard CAN/CSA-C388-15 entitled Energy performance and capacity measurement of household microwave ovens. (CSA C388-15)
- microwave oven
microwave oven means a household cooking appliance that is designed to cook or heat food in a compartment by means of microwave energy and includes one that has a thermal element that is designed for the surface browning of food. (four à micro-ondes)

10 C.F.R. Appendix I means Appendix I to Subpart B of Part 430 of Title 10 to the United States Code of Federal Regulations, entitled Uniform Test Method for Measuring the Energy Consumption of Cooking Products, as amended from time to time. (appendice I 10 C.F.R.)
- 10 C.F.R. §430.32(j)(3)
10 C.F.R. §430.32(j)(3) means paragraph 430.32(j)(3) of Subpart C, Part 430 of Title 10 to the United States Code of Federal Regulations, as amended from time to time. (10 C.F.R. §430.32(j)(3))

66 For the purposes of these Regulations, a microwave oven is one of the following types:
(a) microwave-only oven;
(b) countertop convection microwave oven;
(c) built-in convection microwave oven; or
(d) over-the-range convection microwave oven.

67 (1) A microwave oven is prescribed as an energy-using product.

(2) However, for the purposes of sections 4, 5 and 68, a microwave oven is not considered to be an energy-using product unless it is manufactured on or after March 31, 2019.

68 (1) The energy efficiency standard for a microwave oven is the standard set out for that type of microwave oven in 10 C.F.R. §430.32(j)(3).

(2) A microwave oven complies with the energy efficiency standard if it meets that standard when tested in accordance with testing procedures established by CSA C388-15 or 10 C.F.R. Appendix I that are applicable to a microwave oven as defined in section 65.

69 For the purpose of subsection 5(1) of the Act, the following information must be provided to the Minister in respect of a microwave oven:
(a) its type;
(b) its volume, expressed in litres (cubic feet); and
(c) its standby power, expressed in watts, as collected in accordance with CSA C388-15 or 10 C.F.R. Appendix I.
SUBDIVISION KMiscellaneous Refrigeration Products

70 The following definitions apply in this Subdivision.
- 10 C.F.R. Appendix A
10 C.F.R. Appendix A means Appendix A to Subpart B, Part 430 of Title 10 to the United States Code of Federal Regulations, entitled Uniform Test Method for Measuring the Energy Consumption of Refrigerators, Refrigerator-Freezers, and Miscellaneous Refrigeration Products, as amended from time to time, except for the waiver referred to in section 7 of that Appendix. (appendice A 10 C.F.R.)
- 10 C.F.R. §430.32(aa)(1)
10 C.F.R. §430.32(aa)(1) means the table to paragraph 430.32(aa)(1) of Subpart C, Part 430 of Title 10 to the United States Code of Federal Regulations, as amended from time to time. (10 C.F.R. §430.32(aa)(1))
- 10 C.F.R. §430.32(aa)(2)
10 C.F.R. §430.32(aa)(2) means the table to paragraph 430.32(aa)(2) of Subpart C, Part 430 of Title 10 to the United States Code of Federal Regulations, as amended from time to time. (10 C.F.R. §430.32(aa)(2))
- miscellaneous refrigeration product
miscellaneous refrigeration product means a household refrigeration product, which includes a cooler and combination cooler refrigeration product, but does not include a refrigerator, refrigerator-freezer or freezer. (appareil de réfrigération divers)

71 For the purposes of these Regulations, a miscellaneous refrigeration product is one of the following types:
(a) if it was manufactured on or after January 1, 2008 and before October 28, 2019, a type described in any of the product types (19) or (20) of Table 1 to CSA C300-15; or
(b) if it is manufactured on or after October 28, 2019, a cooler of a product class described in 10 C.F.R. §430.32(aa)(1) or a combination cooler refrigeration product of a product class described in 10 C.F.R. §430.32(aa)(2).
